I love people. I love seeing people reach their potential in all areas of life. And I love helping them do that. Athletics have always been an integral part of my life. I grew up playing football, baseball, and basketball, and anything else that could be considered a competitive venture. I enjoyed the general reality that if I worked harder and trained smarter than my opponent, then I would succeed. That brought me to UofL to play on the baseball team.

After college I got into running with my wife and friends, and participated in various running and triathlon races of all distances. In August 2010, I completed the Louisville Ironman.

The Ironman ruined me for moving forward slowly. I was desperate to find something fun and effective that I could use in my training. I was also looking for a workout that didn’t last 7 hours! I started doing CrossFit with some buddies from church in our friend’s garage and have been hooked ever since. It’s amazing how doing CrossFit has made me so much better at everything, even running!

Apart from fitness, I am married (Kari) and have a young son (Asa). I love my church (Fellowship Church), and help lead a small group there.

I started CrossFit as a way of getting back in shape after having our first child. I’ve always been into running, but after pregnancy running was difficult for a while. It didn’t take long for me to become addicted to CrossFit. I loved the intensity of the workouts, the community aspect, and the fact that I could just show up and not have to think about coming up with a workout. It also didn’t take long for me to start seeing results in my strength level and endurance. As I started running again I also saw improvements in my speed. CrossFit has become an integral part of my workout plan ever since. Before CrossFit, I was a part time personal trainer and part time college minister. One of my greatest passions is seeing individual lives transformed for the better, whether physically or spiritually. When Charlie decided to open the gym, I began pursuing my Level One certification with CrossFit to help him coach classes. Through the Level One training I learned about Crossfit’s emphasis on functional fitness and improved quality of life. This focus lined up with what I had been emphasizing with my clients in my personal training business. Once I received my certification, I was able to confidently take the step to transition out of training people in their homes to coaching classes at the gym.Outside of coaching I enjoy taking care of our baby (Asa), competing in road races, and serving with our church in ministry to groups and individuals.

The question I get asked most is why I do CrossFit. The answer is simple- I feel good. I feel healthy, have more energy, more confidence, and I love it! I am doing things I would have never thought possible.I made a decision a couple of years ago that I had to do something. I was feeling tired all the time, my eating habits were bad, and quite frankly-thought I could look better in the mirror. I knew I needed to change. It is not an easy journey, but the rewards are worth the hard work.Without much of an athletic background, I started from scratch. I thought I was going to die after my first WOD. Shopping for fresh vegetables and cooking fresh food every day seemed very time consuming. But that changes.

I love the challenge and concept of CrossFit. I love the people. I enjoy the food I eat and don’t miss much at all.

Now I want to share that passion with others. I became a CrossFit level 1 trainer in 2010, and am now working on my Precision Nutrition Certification.

My goals are simple: Provide the tools necessary for you to be fit and healthy and have fun doing it.

Outside of the gym I am married with 2 cats and a dog; I work as a Veterinary Technician at Crestwood Animal Hospital; & I enjoy anything outdoors- swimming, scuba-diving, camping, skiing, etc.
