Enhanced Youth CrossFit Program

A Three-Tiered Approach

At Regeneration we love our Youth CrossFit program and we are thrilled to announce an exciting new evolution! In response to the diverse skill levels and unique abilities of our young athletes, we're transitioning from the traditional age-based structure to a more personalized, skill-oriented approach.

Individualized Assessment, Age, and Class Access:
Gone are the age limits!

We recognize that age limits are important to maintain social and peer relationships as well as skill and safety concerns. The new design for the Youth CrossFit program is not discounting this importance, we are simply removing age as the singular deciding factor for the progress and access to the Youth CrossFit program.

When entering the Youth CrossFit program, age is considered to start an athlete in the best class for them. From there we can assess individual skill and maturity to best develop an individual plan of action. Class access will be determined by skill level, appropriate class participation, and parental approval. Our aim is to create an inclusive environment where athletes can progress at their own pace, regardless of age, and have the opportunity to seamlessly transition to the next skill tiers when ready.

Transition to Adult Classes:
As Expert Level athletes advance and show mastery and discipline over their skills and in a class setting, they may have the opportunity, upon approval from both coaches and parents, to attend adult classes. This exciting step allows them to further refine their skills, train alongside experienced CrossFitters, and embrace new challenges.

We're committed to fostering growth, skill development, and a supportive environment for all our athletes. This transition marks a new chapter in our program, emphasizing personalized growth and the pursuit of excellence.

We can't wait to embark on this journey with each and every one of our athletes!

Three-Tiered Program Structure

Novice Level
- Beginner Level, ages 5+

This tier is designed for young athletes who are new to CrossFit or are in the early stages of skill development. Here, kids will receive foundational training, focusing on fundamental techniques and building a strong base of overall fitness, as well as learn how to operate in a structured class setting.

At our Novice level, our primary focus is on fostering a love for exercise and building a strong foundation for athletic growth. We understand the importance of instilling a passion for movement and a positive attitude toward physical activity from a young age.

What to Expect at Novice Level:

  • Love for Exercise: Our programming is designed to make fitness fun! Through engaging activities and enjoyable exercises, we aim to cultivate a lifelong love for staying active.
  • Foundational Skills: Athletes will learn the basics of CrossFit, with an emphasis on proper techniques and fundamental movements. This level is dedicated to laying the groundwork for future and safe skill development.
  • Class Participation and Execution of Instructions: Understanding how to participate in a class environment is crucial for athletes of all ages, and this is where it starts. Novice-level athletes will learn how to follow instructions, work within a group setting, and develop essential peer relationships through teamwork. Our coaches ensure that each participant comprehends and successfully implements the techniques taught in class.
  • Peer Relationships: Building friendships and camaraderie within the class is encouraged. Athletes will develop social skills, teamwork, and a supportive atmosphere, creating a positive environment for learning and growth.

Our Novice level serves as the gateway to a fulfilling journey in our program, nurturing not only physical abilities but also essential social and cognitive skills necessary for holistic development.

Intermediate Level
- progressing beyond the basics, general age: pre-teen+

For those ready to progress beyond the basics, our Intermediate Level offers more challenging programming. Athletes refine techniques, deepen understanding, and work towards mastering advanced skills under experienced coaches. This tier is designed for those who have mastered the foundations and are eager to take their abilities to the next stage.

What to Expect at Intermediate Level:

  • Skill Refinement: Athletes will refine and enhance the techniques learned at the Novice level. Our coaches will guide them in perfecting their form, increasing precision, and building a more nuanced understanding of fitness.
  • Advanced Skills and Strategic Thinking: With basic skills mastered, Intermediate Level athletes will be introduced to more advanced skills and strategies. Athletes will learn to assess workouts and apply strategies that they know will get them through the WOD in the most efficient way. This stage is about pushing boundaries and expanding skill sets to tackle greater challenges.
  • Individual Progress Tracking: Each athlete progresses at their own pace. At the Intermediate Level, we implement individualized progress tracking through the WODify app to ensure that athletes are advancing appropriately and receiving the coaching they need.
  • Increased Training Intensity: As athletes grow in skill, the training intensity will be adjusted to provide a greater challenge in order to prepare them for the demands of the Expert Level.

The Intermediate Level serves as a crucial stepping stone, bridging the gap between foundational learning and advanced mastery. It's a stage where athletes hone their skills, deepen their understanding, and begin to see the exciting possibilities ahead in their athletic journey.

Expert Level
- Mastering the Art and Pursuing Excellence, general age: 14+

This tier is reserved for our most skilled and dedicated young athletes. Expert Level athletes participate in the same classes as Intermediate athletes, but are allowed access to additional class times, open gym opportunities and diverse coaching to help them excel in their CrossFit journey.

What to Expect at Expert Level:

  • Mastery of Techniques: Expert-level athletes will refine their techniques to a level of mastery. Precision, fluidity, and flawless execution become the standard as they strive for excellence in every aspect of their fitness.
  • Competition Readiness: Athletes at the Expert Level will develop a competitive mindset, learn to handle pressure, and have opportunities to showcase their skills in events and competitions throughout the year.
  • Leadership Development: Expert-level athletes are not only skilled CrossFitters but also leaders within our community. They will have the opportunity to mentor and inspire younger athletes, fostering a culture of support, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Internship opportunities are available, limits do apply.
  • Personalized Performance Enhancement: With the help of coaches, Expert Level athletes will identify areas for improvement and tailor training plans to enhance their performance. This personalized approach ensures that each athlete reaches their full potential.

The Expert Level represents the pinnacle of achievement in our program, where athletes embark on a journey of continuous improvement, pushing the boundaries of their capabilities, and setting the stage for a legacy of excellence.

Conclusion

The transition to a three-tiered approach in the Youth CrossFit program marks an exciting evolution in our commitment to personalized growth and excellence. By removing age limits and focusing on individualized skill development, we're creating an inclusive environment where every young athlete can thrive.

From the Novice Level, where foundations are laid and a love for fitness is cultivated, to the Intermediate Level, where skills are refined and advanced challenges are embraced, and finally to the Expert Level, where mastery is pursued and leadership is developed, each tier offers a unique and rewarding experience.

We're thrilled to embark on this journey with our young athletes, guiding them through each stage of their development and empowering them to reach their full potential. Together, we'll continue to foster a community of growth, support, and excellence in fitness and beyond.
